Rosarita drop earrings in a handcrafted antiqued .925 silver setting. Created in my Wyoming home studio.
Rosarita is a fairly rare material with a fascinating history.
Gold miners would build brick kilns over open pits and super-heat gold-bearing ore. The gold would sink to the bottom and red gold runoff called slag would run down the mountains, and solidify, resulting in rock like colors of Brilliant Red and Orange. Very similar to how Obsidian is formed in a volcano.
The Rosarita beach in Mexico is the inspiration for its name for its rich red
and orange colors.
